About Us

Beginnings

Alico Metal Fabricators can trace it's roots in Southwest Florida to 1983. Back then, we were known as Metropolis Iron by Design.  The company specialized in providing custom metal furnishings and accessories to the area's burgeoning interior design industry.  Whether the need was a beautiful console to create a stunning impression in a grand foyer or custom drapery hardware that matched the scale and grandeur of a three story ocean view; Metropolis Iron soon became the go to source for the area's top designers.

New Era

2009 marked the beginning of an exciting and challenging new era.  Master Fabricator Joel Nicodemus and Designers Andy & Heidi Aiken joined the company bringing new ideas and a fresh outlook.  Soon these three partners made the choice to purchase the company from long time owner Wendy Golten.  This was certainly a daring move; the Great Recession was in full swing and the Southwest Florida area was hit especially hard.  Many of the wonderful clients that had been with us for years suddenly found themselves unable to weather one of the worst financial storms of all time.  But the new owners believed in themselves and in the Southwest Florida community.  Feeling that the best way to overcome these "hard times" was to invest in the future.  So we moved to our new location off of Alico Road in South Ft. Myers and in keeping with company tradition renamed ourselves Alico Metal Fabricators (Metropolis Iron was founded on Metro Parkway).

We had a beautiful new facility and a new moniker and now it was time to expand beyond home furnishings and accessories.  It was at this point that we began providing our services to some of the finest home builders in the area in addition to the interior design trade.  But working sixteen hour days (most weekends included)  paid off, Alico Metal Fabricators thrived.
